Christmas Fun 2011

Christmas Parties are always fun, but sometimes it is hard to get a good picture depending on the setting. I am still trying to get the lighting down inside of a church, but this year Santa was on the stage which made it much easier due to the black curtain. having a black background can make for some fun pictures.
This was one of the Christmas projects that the kids, and some of the adults did at the family Christmas Party. We found the idea on Pinterest. I love these ornaments!
Shelly posed for the camera just so we could get a picture of the ornament.

Spencer and Aaron Co-Bros. Watching T.V. together.

A Christmas Prayer
Sometimes a little texture can make a slightly blurry picture turn out pretty good.
Our Christmas village. This was the first year that we found a place we could put our village up. Matt was our Mr. Conductor for the train.
This year I decided that we needed to use up some of the wood I have been holding onto for years for the "perfect project." It turned out pretty good.

Just a few more from...ME

As sad as a broken butterfly wing is, I really liked finding it. It was something different and interesting. I could find a different quote for it but for now that is what it has.

I love to take macro pictures. I think it's more fun to see things in a new perspective.

My Poser

Lauree is such a great sport. She has been my greatest poser. I am sure that she is going to kill me for some of these but oh well. She will just have to understand that it is my duty as a father to embarrass her ;)

Lauree started out blonde, but she got a wild idea to color her hair. Her hair has changed colors several times now. I am hoping she has realized that blonde is cheaper to maintain.

This one might get me in trouble. :)

This one I think she will be okay with. I had not thought about shooting fall colors at night but I really liked touch it gave.
I have learned a lot by watching Lauree take pictures. I like her attention to the little things. I love seeing the world through her eyes. It makes me appreciate the details in God's creations.

This is one of my favorite pictures of Lauree.

Graduating with honors. That's my daughter :)

Just 4 fun on our hike to Donut Falls up Big Cottonwood Canyon fall of 2011.

As a parent we realize that our children must leave home at some point. It is both exciting and scary. We realize the dangers that are out there but we also realize the beauty that is life...

Lauree is by and far my favorite daughter. She truly makes life beautiful.

My Goal As A Photographer....

My goal as a photographer is to capture a moment in time and present it in a way that edifies all. The more pictures I take and the more I learn about photography the better I will become, and the closer to reaching my goals I will get.

My philosophy is this. Each of us has a value and that value is not determined by what we go through in life it is determined by our maker.

As a photographer I believe it is my responsibility to reflect our true value in my pictures.

Christmas Tree Hunt 2011

A little bit of picnik fun with the above pictures. Just 4 fun the first picture has a couple of hidden items.  The second pictures is an exaggeration of the snow that we saw, but it really have a nice touch to the picture.

One event that we have made a tradition is the annual Christmas Tree Hunt. Normally it is the first Saturday after Thanksgiving. However, scheduling forced us to postpone it by a week. The weather outside was frightful, and yet it was delightful... Okay it was partly cloudy with a light snow, but mostly the snow was powder and any breeze made it look like it was snowing, but it was very cold, and very fun.

Spence and Matt wanted to use the saw. So, I let them make the first cut so that we could fit the tree into the truck.

This year we had the Poole family (above), and the Warnick family (left) join in on the fun. Somehow we managed to round all of us up for family picture (right)

Merry Christmas!!

The Manti Temple

The Manti Temple has the honor of being the second temple completed in Utah. It is an impressive sight as you enter the valley. When it is lit up it is truly inspiring. To me I see vintage when I see this temple.

Critters

This little guy was fun to watch. He didn't seem to scared of me at all. I could have taken pictures of him all day long.

What do these two pictures have in common? I had taken my daughter down to Snow College in Ephraim Utah and while we were driving around looking at housing I spotted a deer in a yard right across from the college so I got out of my car to take pictures of the deer when these two roosters ran in front of me. Pretty cool, I love taking pictures of critters. I wish I had more time to get out of the big city, but as long as I am here I will take every opportunity to see the wildlife that live all around me.

Fun With Portraits

The Perry family was one of my first family photo shoots. I made a big mistake. I had my ISO set way too high leaving the pictures gritty when we tried to print larger sizes. Thank goodness they liked the pictures enough that they made a collage of smaller pictures.

Lesson learned understanding what your settings are does make a difference.

Little Emily, she is a brunette Shirley Temple.  Such a fun personality.

Hyrum and Sam are veteran posers. They were tons of fun.

Millie was the reason we were taking pictures. She is my buddy. She has the prettiest eyes and was so full of smiles while we took pictures it was so much fun.

I love catching the personality of children. This one certainly says tons about Emily. This isn't your typical school picture.

My nephew has to be getting sick of the camera, but he has such a fun personality and that makes for good practice for me.
This is my son Spencer. He is fun when I can get him to cooperate. Sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn't. I am just happy sometimes he does.

I took this picture of Matthew when we went out to view the flooding of the Jordan River this past spring. Matt was drawing a picture of the new pond that was formed in a park where the river had over flowed.
